Exterior Description And Setting


Located on west-facing slope on track junction at north-east corner of forest. A large granite glacial erratic measuring 3.0 x 2.2m in plan by 1m high. Carved into the slightly sloping top surface is a flat recess measuring 50 x 30cm. Directly beneath this is an incised cross measuring 20 x 15cm.

The remote location of this stone reflects the imposition of the Penal Laws which forbade organised Catholic worship. Primarily of local social interest and an increasingly rare example of its type.
