Exterior Description And Setting


A small mono-pitch corrugated iron building on a plan 2.5 x 2 metres approximatley. It is painted red, has sheeted door with small rectangular fanlilght, flanked with window and above a sign stating "AGHANLOO POST OFFICE". A post box (Elizabeth Regina) is inserted in front wall to one side. A red telephone kiosk, embossed with crown above word telephone (kiosk No. 6 produced beetween 1936 and 1968) is in front of post office. Makes an interesting group with cottage.

Evaluation


A moderately interesting small group of post office kiosk and cottage. The tiny corrugated post office is reminicent of smililar small structures which dotted the Irish countryside.
