Exterior Description And Setting


No remains of former building. Now carpark outside gate of Department of Agriculture owned forest. Basalt stone wall along boundary of site probably part of the original boundary wall of farm.

Historical Information


Formerly a one and a half storey basalt house. Slate roof, overhanging eaves and two chimneys on the ridge, one on either side of a central entrance hall. Sheeted door recessed from the face, two side lights and flat brick arch over. Two flanking windows with twelve pane sashes. Single small window under centre of eaves. Two windows on the gables directly over each over. Estate house of the Marquis of Waterford from circa 1860. Derelict when surveyed in 1970 now demolished. Photograph from early years of century found in 67 Windyhill Road (HB02/11/019) whose occupant was related to the people in the photograph (slide taken of photograph). References H B Files.
