Exterior Description And Setting


A two storey three bay wide white rendered house with slated and hipped main roof with two internal chimneys on either side of entrance hall. A two storey back return slated and gabled with gable chimney and ridge at lower level that main roof. In the south facing internal angle of the return a single storey extension with low pitched roof. The central entrance door has an elliptical fanlight with full height sidelights. A single storey canted bay adorns the north gable. The house has been recently renovated with modern plasterwork, new windows and door and the extension fitted with contemporary glazed door and modern window. The house is approached by an avenue from the north side. To the rear are three ranges of single storey slated outhouses built of basalt and openings trimmed with redbrick. Beyond these are modern barns.

The main facade has pleasing proportions of an early Victorian villa but it has been spoiled by insensitive renovations and extension
