Exterior Description And Setting


A one-storey/ three-bay house on a lane off the east side of Glenloughan Road. House is aligned on a slope such that the right gable is slightly shorter than that to left. Pitched natural slate roof, terracotta ridge tiles and cement coped verges. Three rendered brick chimneys, one to each gable and one between centre and right bay. Painted semicircular metal rainwater goods. Walls are lime rendered and whitewashed. Main entrance is at right on left bay. Front door is t+g painted timber with three panes to top. Set within a slightly projecting gabled porch with a natural slate roof, raised terracotta ridge tiles and plain timber bargeboards. Walls and cheeks of porch are as rest of building. Three windows to façade: one to left and two to right of entrance. All are 2/2 sliding sashes with exposed boxes, horns and painted granite cills. Left and right gables are blank. Rear elevation is abutted for most of its length by a one-storey monopitched pebble dashed and painted extension. Exposed section of main block has, at left, a 2/2 sash and, at right, a three paned (horizontal) metal window without cills. Left cheek of extension has partly glazed modern door rear wall has 2x4 pane metal window. Right cheek has window opening, now sheeted over. Outhouses to rear.
