Exterior Description And Setting

Standing stone set in a field to the rear (W) of Glenmoore farm, at the end of a lane to the W of the Holywood Road, c.2 miles NW of Newtownards. The stone is sandstone [?Scrabo] and measures roughly 1.75m in height and 0.75 x 0.5m at the base. It is irregularly shaped and has what appear to be fault lines to its E face.

Presumably this stone was erected in prehistoric times and perhaps possessed religious significance. It is marked on the OS Maps of 1833/4 and 1858-60.
