Exterior Description And Setting


Modern looking, two storey gabled farm house set at the end of a lane off the Movilla Road c.2.5 miles east of Newtownards. Front (N) facade has a right of centre glazed door surrounded by a modern flat roof porch with glazing to upper levels of all sides. To the left of the doorway are two modern two pane timber windows each with smaller upper opener. Similar window to right of porch, with four similar to first floor. The W gable has a similar window to the right on the ground floor and one to the left on the first floor. The E gable is blank. The rear is largely taken up with a large full height flat roofed extension, with modern windows and doors to both extension and rear of main house. The facade is covered in ‘salt & pepper’ dry dash render. Plain rendered recessed base. The roof is pitched and covered in pan tiles with four concrete brick chimney stacks. PVC rw goods.

A building is shown on this site on the 1834 OS Map. In 1982 this house was extensively renovated, with the front first floor window openings made taller, those on the ground floor reduced in height, an extension added to the rear, modern window frames inserted and a modern ‘salt & pepper’ render applied to the facade.
