Exterior Description And Setting

Part of a two storey gabled terrace at the N end of Main Street, containing three properties. Front (E) façade is double fronted with an off centre front timber panel door with a ‘tripartite’ PVC window to the left and a smaller single window to the right, with four similar (but slightly smaller) windows to the first floor. The door and windows all have plain moulded surrounds. The front elevation is finished in lined render with chamfered quoins. The exposed S gable is blank. This gable is finished in lined render. There is a brown brick chimney to this gable. Rear has mixture of PVC windows and central full height hipped roof return. The roof of the main house is pitched and all roofs have asbestos slates. A yellow brick chimney, with dentilled corbelling, is shared with No.9/11 (HB24/02/001A and B).

Historical Information

A terrace is shown on this site on the OS Map of 1834, complete with the post office at ‘No.11’ where (assuming the terrace is as original as it appears) it remains to this day. A photograph dating from c.1910 (from the Green Collection) shows these buildings much as present, with the same sized door and window openings, however, the door of No.13 was at that stage encased with pilasters and a lintel and cornice, all of which has recently been removed. 1 PRONI Ordnance Survey Maps, 1st Edition, 1834, Co. Evaluation

Two storey terrace house of probable early nineteenth origin which has recently been renovated. It has now PVC window frames, asbestos slates and has lost some of its front façade detailing.
