Exterior Description And Setting

Much renovated single storey gabled farmhouse with attic situated on a hill top less than a mile west of the village of Cloghy. Front SE facade has off centre timber panel door with two modern two pane timber windows to left of door, and one to right. Two similar upper level windows to NE gable with one to right on ground floor, with similar arrangement to SW gable. Rear has off centre timber and glazed back door with a window to left and two to right, much as before only smaller. Entire house finished in limestone chip render with simple smooth cement surrounds to doors and windows and edges of some walls. Smooth cement to base also. Roof gabled and pitched with concrete pan tiles, stone parapets and four yellow brick chimney stacks with dentilled corbelling. Velux window to right of centre at rear. PVC ogee gutters and square down spouts. Tall rendered wall enclosing corrugated iron ‘shed’ to right at rear.

A building is shown on this site on the OS Map of 1834, much the same as today, therefore, it may be assumed that this house dates from the early nineteenth century at least.
