Exterior Description And Setting

Two storey house with single storey extension to S gable and single storey return to rear, set on the Cloughy Road, just south of Portavogie, overlooking the shore. E facade has off centre timber glazed front door with two pane PVC window to right with one to left and two to far left on extension. Three similar windows to first floor main house. All windows have smooth cement surrounds. N gable main house has window as before to left on ground floor and right on first floor, with one to side of return. S gable of main house and extension both blank. S side of return has modern two pane window to left and two plain timber sheeted doors to right. W gable which is the rear of the main house has three windows similar to front on first floor with two to ground floor. Window to left on first floor is partly obscured by ridge of return roof. Rear of extension has plain sheeted timber door to left and large modern two pane PVC window to right. Roofs of all sections of house pitched and gabled with asbestos free slates to main house, Bangor blues to return and asbestos slates to extension. Two yellow brick chimneys stacks to main house and one rendered stack to return. PVC gutters and down spouts. Entire house finished in limestone chip render with smooth cement render to wall edges and base. Low rendered rubble wall to front.

Historical Information

Building shown on site on OS Map of 1834 and on that of 1860, but on both occasions without return or extension.
