Historical Information

The OS Memoirs of c.1833 mention a standing stone a ‘short distance’ south-west of the village of Ballyhalbert ‘the height of which is 11 feet and 12 inches circumference’, given the discrepancy in measurements, this may be a reference to another [?now missing] antiquity. This particular stone, however, is marked on the OS Map of 1834. References- Secondary sources 1 PRONI Ordnance Survey Maps, 1st Edition, 1834, Co.
