Exterior Description And Setting

A picturesque group of four early 20th century county council cottages along Church Road. Set back from the road in well kept gardens, each house consists of a porch, two windows to either side and a kitchen return to the rear. Each house has a large chimney with two pots to the gable on the left of the entrance, a single pot off ridge, to the right. All have been refurbished by the N I Housing Executive. Roofs are finished in asbestos slates. Timber windows, stained, and with top hung opening lights, are also the result of improvements. The buildings have painted harling renders.

Historical Information

Built in 1911 as part of a County Council programme of rural workers cottages. Said to be a match of a similar development in Edenreagh. Ownership transferred to Northern Ireland Housing Executive on reorganisation of Council responsibilities in 1972. Now in occupier's ownership. Reference: Housing Executive Records
