Exterior Description And Setting

Former Neo-Georgian brick secondary school now demolished and replaced by a much larger school. Entrance pillars remain on boundary wall. Some in cut sandstone with pyramidal cap others in rendered concrete block. Described in the first survey in 1993 as 'A single-storey hipped-roofed building in rustic brick with reconstituted stone dressings, in neo-Georgian style consisting of a central five-bay block which is surmounted by a square cupolaed clock turret, flanked symmetrically by lower three-bay wings which contain projecting porch entrances. There are no interiors of any distinction but the long main entrance front is a fine piece of neo-Georgian design in brick and presents an attractive appearance to the main road.'
