Exterior Description And Setting

Single span bridge carries the former Newcastle - Kilkeel road over the Mullagh River. Parapets and spandrels of random granite fieldstones, and the voussoirs and soffit of split Silurian rubble. Two phases of construction: the upstream span has a semicircular profile and the downstream section, which is approximately twice the width of the up portion, has a segmental span. Bridge faces recently repointed with cement and parapets coped with cement.
