Exterior Description And Setting

A segmental twin arched bridge carrying the Head Road over the Kilkeel River. Of squared granite rubble in regular courses with roughly dressed voussoirs and angled cutwaters rising to just above arch spring level on both sides. Rusticated copings to strap pointed parapets. Traces of concrete shuttering on soffit indicate later strengthening.

An un-named bridge is shown here on the 1834 OS 6" map (Down sheet 53). It is explicitly captioned as Colligan Bridge from the 1859 edition onwards.
