Exterior Description And Setting


Single storey house with hipped roof and facing south east. Roof is natural slate and has crested ridge tiles and terracotta hip knobs, eaves board and moulded rainwater goods. Three chimneys - one central, and one on each gable; all are tall cement rendered with projecting caps and pots. Walls are cement rendered with a cill course running around the building, and alternating raised quoins. Central porch with gable roof, barge board and door with segmental transom light and side lights. Render on porch is lined to resemble ashlar. On either side of facade is a canted bay window with hipped dormer roof. Beyond these on either side, is a pair of sliding sash windows. There is a low extension (stepped back) to right of the façade with similar detailing as house. The rear has also been extended. The house has a garden path, flanked by rose beds, gate posts and traditional gate

Evaluation


This house, probably dating from c1900 is an attractive architectural composition. Although the render, windows and chimneys are all relatively new work, they have been executed close to the original and are of a very high quality. However insufficient historic fabric remains to justify listing.
